black sticky stuff from the hotend - please advise

Post by duvdev »

Hello,

I have been printing for a few days lets say about 800 meters of filament on all of my prints.
2 days ago I saw a black spot on one of my prints and when I check the nozzel head I saw black sticky stuff comes from gap where the nozzle connects to hotend body.
I tool out the nozzle and all the side of it was one big mess. alot of hard old filament.
I remove the tube and cleaned the side of the hotend. I took a new nozzel with the tube I had from my spare hotend part and assenbled it.
I printed since yester maybe about 5-7 hours of printing and todays morning I say some black stuff starting to come out all over as you can see the picturs.

why is that and how can I solve it? I cant disassemble the head every 2 days to clean it. the printer is totaly new.
PLease adevise i must get some help

Did you tighten the nozzle while it was hot?
When on mobile I am brief and may be perceived as an arsl.

Yep.
I set it to 230 and when it was stable I tighten it

maybe I need to do real hard?

You certainly don't want to do it "real hard", your screwing Brass into Aluminum, neither material is particularly strong, and both are easily damaged by too much force.
A lot depends on the length of the lever you used to tighten it, but in general is should be snug.

This happened to me frequently when I was still using the SeeMe hot end. Too much nozzle pressure would encourage melted filament to find any tiny place to ooze back up, and it would get all over the PTFE tubing inside the hot end. It was fairly routine for me to tear it down and rebuild it.

Then I got an E3D hot end and it never happened again. E3Ds are all metal, easier to build and maintain, and can handle temps in excess of 300C (limited to 280 on account of the thermistor). WAY easier to deal with, and you can print stuff like nylon and T-glase which requires temps that would risk melting the PEEK section on a SeeMe hot end. I've bought four of them in total (two of version 5, two of version 6) and I will never go back.

You can print pretty much anything with it: http://www.filastruder.com/products/all ... -v6-hotend

I have printed PLA and T-glase with it. Version 6 is a big improvement. The feed pressure is nice and low for PLA. With T-glase, it's quite viscous, so you have to print at ~15-20mm/sec at most. With PLA, I can do 40-60mm/sec, no problem.
