Bottom base not level
Bottom base not level
I took my heat bed off today and measured the bed with a framing square. It seems the end opposite my Y tower is sagging a bit:

I believe this is what is causing my printer to not be able to print in this area, it's pulling the bed down with it when I fasten it. Does anyone else have this? Should I shim the base to make it level?

What are we looking at here?
Is that the melamine?

Re: Bottom base not level
Yes that's the melamine the hot bed sits on. I've tried loosening some of the screws any propping sides up. Some success but not sure if I'm doing something wrong in the first place lol.
Re: Bottom base not level
I would shim it.

Re: Bottom base not level
I´m using only 3 standoffs infront of the Towers.
Re: Bottom base not level
It actually looks like the Z arm isn't perpendicular to the bed, the top of the tower needs to lean in to make the square touch the far side of the bed. How do we tweak the angle of the towers?
Re: Bottom base not level
There was a guy who was after perfect calibration.
And he has started with the tools and making the towers perpendicular.

Re: Bottom base not level
I have not tested my towers yet. But the logical move would be loosen the attachments. Make it vertical and re-tighten.
If the melamine layers do not prohibit it.

Would you mind cropping and resizing the images.
I only see a part of your ruler.

Re: Bottom base not level
My X and Z towers seem to be at an angle aswell. Y looks good.
4.4 degrees.

4.4 degrees.

Re: Bottom base not level
For those that want to calculate the degrees:
My right angle tool is 13 cm. And when i aligned it between the bed and the tower, I got 1 mm of a gap at the bottom.
So that is a triangle with an opposing edge of 1 and a hypothenuse of 13.
Open google and type "arcsin (1/3) in deg". And it tells you the degrees.

Re: Bottom base not level
When I do the same thing on the other two towers they are completely 90 degrees with each other though.
Try opening up the image directly http://i.imgur.com/tPtTihX.jpg
The side opposite that tower is always too low when trying to print on it, meaning the tower needs to be 90 degrees to the bed?

Migrated to laptop. Hit cmd- a few times, now text is so small i cannot read it but i can see your pictures.
My problem is much worse. I seem to have much steeper angles.
I will move my printer back in to the living room and fondle with it. Ill pop the arduino inside while i am at it.

Re: Bottom base not level
Are you talking about the towers or my inability to view large images?

He is talking about your inability to view pictures.teoman wrote:Are you talking about the towers or my inability to view large images?
99% of users have no problems with the pictures yet you keep asking the authors to crop and manipulate
the resolution so that YOU can see the pictures.
I agree with Gene in that this is becoming an annoyance.
Re: Bottom base not level
I have the same problem on firefox, i have to shrink to fonts to an unreadable size to be able to view the entire image, I was unaware than everyone else can view them and was thinking it would be a common problem among most users. Although it is common forum etiquette to provide clear and clutter free pictures.
Sorry for if i have annoyed anyone. I shall not make such requests anymore. If i cannot see them then i cannot see them and that is the end of that.

I've told you in other threads if you can't see them, open them in a new window. Or change your board preferences to a different theme. Or update your web browsers.
Another tip, for the uploader of images, is to use the forum attachment function, as it handles the pictures well.

Re: Bottom base not level
My browser is up to date. Some of the images are not clickable, some are. It is a pain to do that if there are 10 images in a post. And i have never had this problem with other forums I visit so i assumed it was because of extremely large image formats.
Anyhow, apparently it is only my problem and I have been cluttering threads for no reason, let us not clutter this thread anymore.

Re: Bottom base not level
Is there a correct procedure for aligning the towers? Besides using a steel square? on the bottoms and the tops of the towers?
