Vacuum storage bags for filament: a good fit!

Post by redoverred »

I got some of the bags like this to store my filament in and they work great! As long as you seal it up decently, you can vacuum out most of the air with a household carpet vacuum and it does pretty well in keeping the moisture out. I have a 40g reusable (heat in oven) dessicant from Amazon in there as well, and I think it does okay but I would rather have like 5 of the dessicant packs if I could afford more. I also have this meter inside the bag and --guess what-- the meter fits PERFECTLY in the center hole of a standard 1 kilo filament spool! Overall, it is keeping the moisture at 22 percent according to the meter (after baking the filament for 4 hours at 100 C the other day), which is pretty good considering the humidity outside the bag is 65+ percent!

Pretty convenient setup. Off the shelf too. Thanks for sharing.
When on mobile I am brief and may be perceived as an arsl.

i find 90% of these bags leak air... ive VERY rarely (out of 30+ bags ive bought), maybe 5 total, have worked and worked for a while.
i find the build quality of these things horrendous.. and its not that im using sharp objects... just clothes half the time.
but i definately would love to use these more. if i had good luck with QC
