Slamming the glass after calibration
PLease scroll to last couple posts... top ones have been solved.
So, everything went pretty well, except i forgot a 2nd pair of 26ga fan wires... so those 2 sets are there, dangling, waiting for shrouds.
Issue 1. On the LCD i see DEF for both noz and bed... When i start it up, it flashes a value, then goes to def. Im still reading the manual, but not seeing anything about that....
Issue 2.SOLVED - The belt had come off the track... easy fix.. Cheapskate on the Y axis is not moving when i go home... not up, or down, just nowhere.. so i need to look to make sure wiring is right, but im sure it is...
More to come im sure.

Ok... so i got that figured out.
now I did all the calibration, all that jazz... perfect.
im not ready to print my first fan shroud.
I followed the directions to the letter.
When i finally click the "start print" button , the extruder heats and is at its temp, but the bed doesnt kick in to heat, and of course, the light doesnt come on either....
THoughts?
thank you

Ok... something was goofy, no idea what, but i powered off the printer, closed out of repetier, restarted it, and it seems to be working now... bed is heating, nozzle is heating. printed homed itself.
is everyone else like beyond thrilled when they are about to print their first project? so many hours of build/configure... suspense is killing me.

Ok.. first attempt at the fan shroud and the printer started printing not in the center, and ended up a half inch or more above the plate dispensing out... something certainly goofy...
attempt number two coming up... im not confident, but i dont know why that happened.
I followed all the calibration stuff to the letter, and it was perfect...
im using the EZFan Shroud R2, which is what i should be using right?

Re: Brand new build ISSUES - One place :)
Ok wow... same thing, it comes down and SLAMS in to the glass, pops up and starts printing above the glass not in the center...
ok... now when i go back to running scripts, it pounds in to the glass again..
anyone tell me what may have happened? everything was PERFECTLY tuned until i tried to slice, and run this first job...
EDIT: just brought the Z axis down to the glass, and its showing right at the glass at 54.45 mm, which was 0 when i had it calibrated... man this is confusing me
thank you
Ok, something is seriously jacked.... so if i start the Z axis recalibration again, instead of 393.322mm i get 338.816mm....
There is something seriously wrong.. off by 60mm? so frustrated.. please lend a hand if you can.
thank you

Re: Slamming the glass after calibration
Wandering Z calibration could be loose belts or loose drive pulleys on the stepper motors. Did the idlers on the top of the towers get tightened? They are easy to overlook. Drive pulley set screws should be on the flatted face of the motor shaft, and must be installed with thread locking compound.

Ill certainly take a look at that...
would that cause my numbers to be off by 60mm? thats really bizarre to me

Re: Slamming the glass after calibration
There are some aspects of the problems you are having that seem similar to what I experienced as result of the stepper pulleys having 18t instead of required 20t. There are other posts on here about that. I had homing all perfect, told it to go to z0 w/ various scripts, and no matter what I did (before finding pulley tooth count problem), it buried itself into the glass. Maybe all of your pulleys are incorrect...?

Re: Slamming the glass after calibration
i seem to be pretty dialed in now... or at least getting closer... im not sure what caused that, but ultimately i think an EEPROM wipe took care of things.
i had a Z tower carriage that was too tight, causing who knows what problems... im still not dialed in all the way, but at least im getting there... i still have a bit too much banding for my tastes... i have no idea how ill ultimately fix that.
