New termistor setting

Post by precisionpete »

I searched but before I fry something HELP please :)

Installed a new E3D V6 hot end on my orion.

How do you reconfigure your firmware for the Semitec 104GT2 thermistor?

Software update somewhere?

Secondary issue:
I need a new layer fan since the original no longer fits. Hope I can print a new one using pla without a fan?

Thanks,
Pete

See this link: http://forum.seemecnc.com/viewtopic.php?t=3771&p=25261

You should be able to print a new layer fan mount but abs would work better because it usually does not require a layer fan.
Good Luck!

Got that part already eaglezsoar, appreciate the response.

What I really need is a way to mod the firmware.

I figured out I need to change the setting on the configuration.h file in the arduino but after downloading the software I can't figure out how to edit this file and upload to my orion.

Arduino won't let me open the configuration.h file giving me some cryptic message about needing a package.

The mechanical part was pretty easy, would be nice to use this new hot end correctly.

Uninstall the present Arduino software.
Download the latest version of Arduino, install it, tell it where your Repetier files are and upload the files again.
Let me know it that works.

This isn't supposed to be that difficult. I must be missing something as the steps are NOT clear.

P.S. Telling "it where your Repetier files are is the problem" WHERE are they located?

On my machine or someplace on the web?

On this link https://github.com/seemecnc/Repetier-09 ... N/Repetier
I see all the files, do I need to grab all these files or only the configuration.h file?

When I open that file with notepad I get much garbage and would be impossible to edit.

When I finally get this done I'll upload a file so the few people that have added a E3D V6 to their orion can get running instead of spending nights reading and finding nothing. Sorry kinda turning into a rant but frustrating after the mechanical is finished and looks good but I can't use what I put together.

On your Orion LCD you should see a version number when you turn on the printer, I need to know what the version # is.
It should be 0.83 of similar.

Check out the assembly manual for the Rostock Max v2 on the downloads section of SeeMeCNC. It has a section for uploading and setting up the firmware in that model printer. Some of the steps will be different, like you need to download the Orion version of the firmware and use Orion settings for it, but it will give you a good idea on how to go about using the Arduino software and such.

Thst is an excellent idea. First though I want to find out his version number of Repetier. Thanks for the tip. That will save a lot of time instead of guiding the whole thing.

Download Version 2 of the assembly guide for Rostock V2 here: http://download.seemecnc.com/rostockmax ... -Guide.pdf
Section 20 of the guide talks about Arduino and how to use it. I still think it is best to uninstall the old Arduino and install a new version.

The .91 software for the Orion is at this location: https://github.com/int2str/Repetier-ORION
Download the zip file and extract it to a folder on your hard drive.
After extraction you will see a folder called Repetier-Orion-Master and another folder called src that contains a folder called ArduinoAVR this is where your Repetier software resides.

Start with section 20 of the guide following every step and you should be good to go.

Okay that is clear now what to do.

Works with one HUGE exception. Default language for my machine is ENGLISH not GERMAN!

I changed from default to English and upload the file again and get GERMAN.

So now my Orion is programmed in German.

Deleted everything and tried again, same results.
Everything is in English except for the upload apparently.

Thoughts please for a solution.

That's strange, I looked at the configuration that you should have downloaded and it is set for English.
No matter we can fix it.

Open your configuration.h and find a line that says #define UI_LANGUAGE 0

0 is english, 1 is german and 2 is dutch. It should be 0 but yours must be set to 1.

Change the line so there is a 0 at the end and upload the firmware again.

I know that this is frustrating for those who have never done this before but we will help you in every way we can.

Appreciate the help Eaglezsoar. Would have taken a long time for me to find that setting.

Also, interface isn't the same as original but no worries I see English now.
I was bad, normally I back up things before changing. If I could have a true original file to modify my interface would be okay.

Might be nice to clean this thread up and make it a sticky so others have an easier time with the cryptic instructions.

You are welcome.
