I am just about to complete my build, but I am a little troubled by connecting my extruder extension cabling to my RAMBo. I have just reached page 190 in the guide where it tells me I may have Kysan brand stepper-motors. Now you tell me! Back on page 266 in Appendix A it had me create the male connector for the extruder extension and so I did. It wanted me to do 1:Green 2:Red 3:Black 4:White. When I went to connect the male connector to the stepper's female, I noticed the colors didn't match up. So I looked at the picture on page 267 and realized that the pictured stepper motor wiring was reverse what I had. Figuring this was just a change the manufacturer had made between now and when the guide was made, I took out the pins and arranged them so green went to green, red went to red, black went to blue, and yellow went to white, just like what was photographed.
Alright, so now I am on page 190, wiring up the RAMBo, and I do in fact have Kysan motors. I am making the extruder extension female connector to plug into the RAMBo. In Figure 18-20 on page 191, it says to pin out the connector exactly as shown. Sounds important! But the wire colors are exactly the same as what I encountered on page 267. I assume because I have Kysan motors, and wired them such that the colors line up appropriately that I should NOT follow this picture exactly? Or do I because the previous page just mentioned that it is possible to have Kysan motors?
For absolute clarity on how my extruder extension cabling is wired:
Kysan Stepper Motor -> Male(1:RED,2:GREEN,3:YELLOW,4:BLUE) -> Female(1:RED,2:GREEN,3:WHITE,4:BLACK) -> Guide says: Female (1:GREEN,2:RED,3:BLACK,4:WHITE) Doesn't make sense to me to invert the colors now?
And when installing the belt motors, does the arrow marker on the connector go towards the "X" in "X Motor" on the board or towards the "r"?
Thanks everyone! I feel like an idiot for asking, but I just want to make perfectly sure I don't destroy this moment by destroying the RAMBo when I turn it on for the first time.
EDIT: Ok, so maybe I understand now. I plugged in the steppers with the engraved arrow on the right and just figured out how I needed to pin that connector such that that stepper would line up the same as the others. Mods, you can probably delete this. Sorry for taking up bandwidth
