Buying Rostock Max v2 - add on recommendations
I'm purchasing a Rostock Max v2 on Thursday when the sale begins and I have a few questions. First, I am getting reimbursed for my purchase through a grant. For this reason I'm wanting to purchase all I can from the Seemecnc site because reimbursement is much easier when I just submit one receipt. I know for sure that I'll order the printer and various types of filament. That said, I'm looking for recommendations on what additional things I should get that are listed on the site under accessories and parts? I see a few nozzles of different sizes but I'm wondering if others could tell me if any of this is a must have item. I know that I will definitely buy an E3d v6 hot end and dampeners but I didn't see either on the site.
Machines- Rostock Max v2 with E3D v6, Corsair 750 power supply, PEI bed, injection molded carriages and new arms. Aluminum mount. X carve with x controller. Stratasys Uprint SE

Purchase two additional 30mm suirrell cage blowers for the PLA layer fans.
Also purchase one of each size nozzle (except the 0.5mm that comes with the kit).
Other than that, I don't see what else, beside filament.

Thanks Bot! very helpful, I didn't even think about needing the extra fans. Definitely adding those to my list.

Do you recommend maybe getting another fan for the controller as well? I saw posts on here in which people say that the controller fan isn't lasting very long.bot wrote:Purchase two additional 30mm suirrell cage blowers for the PLA layer fans.

My controller fan turned out to be fine but my PEEK fan barely lasted a week. I wound up ordering a replacement from digikey that works much better.
You might also consider buying a couple extra borosilicate glass plates. I accidentally dropped a screwdriver on one of mine while calibrating the z-stops, and there are other perils that could also break it. (Word to the wise, always have a thick towel handy to shield your build platform with when doing maintenance on the machine...)

The E3D must be purchased from http://e3d-online.com/ (England) or
http://www.filastruder.com/ (USA)
Send a private message to Astroboy907 to get a price on the dampers.

Ever since I installed that nice durable sheet of PEI I haven't had to worry much about cracking the glass. Not that it offers much protection from drops, but scratching and surface cracks are a thing of the past. Also not having to take it to the bathroom to wash off all the glue that wasn't working saves a trip that I could drop it during.
Also PEI works very well, and it would be a worthwhile investment. There is a lot of info in the PEI thread, but you'd need a 12x12 .04" sheet of PEI from Amazon or McMaster, and this high temp tape talked about in the PEI thread as well.
