Woodfill jams in Bowden? Help!

Post by craftymethod »

Hey guys... rostock delta V2 here...

ive been testing with a colorfabb woodfill 1.75mm and I very regularly get air prints Usually at random times. It always seems that the extruder winds up filament around itself or has more that in should bent up around the entrance to the top of the bowden tube.

the teeth look aligned well to the top of the tube.

I dont think it should be jamming at the nozzle but I notice the quality of the print deteriorates a bit before it stops, and when I cut the filament above the extruder.. I do notice the filament is quite hard to pull up through the bowden tube. Almost to the point i would expect it to fail and bend trying to push the fialment down!

Does anyone know of any optium bowden tube length, curve angles etc or anyone else had problems with seemingly woodfill friction in the bowden tube issues?

I'd like to test without the bowden tube... is that possible?

Thanks guys you rock.

raise your extruder temp to 205 and slow to 30mm sec.

just tried that... issue still seems to be about the same. It is bad to have too many curves in a bowden tube? im wondering if bowden friction is an issue seeing it takes a fair amount of effort to pull the woodfill through the bowden tube.

Anyone suggest a test? the other filaments seem to work fine.

I had to try a few times to get my bowden tube to naturally rest in a place, in the full Z travel, that allowed a natural curve for the filament path. Having quick disconnects on all the hotend wiring certainly helps to organize it.
