strange & sudden calibration issue printing PLA w/ overhangs

Post by shentheory »

So i designed a model with a globe-type shape, and had a successful PLA print. Hooray! Printed at 215c with a 60c bed, 0.2 layer height, no layer fan (yes, I'm waiting on a new one in the mail, I know this is a must). It printed a little messy going up the sphere shape, but overall turned out very well.

I went to print another, same brand of PLA but different color. and about 30min into the print when it's about 1/5 up the globe shape, the nozzle starts nudging the print, and somehow obviously got lowered. It actually started to make the cheepskates skip because the print is blocking the path of the nozzle. After I kill the print, I home it and checked my calibration macros, everything's good. start the same print again, and it prints fine for another 30min or so until the same issue occurs.

What's odd is that it printed fine for the first print, so i wouldn't think it's a model or overhang/angle issue. But the printer itself seems fine, checked the calibration settings a few times and it's calibrated properly like it always is. the belts don't seem loose either. I can obviously deal with it being a model issue, but if it's a printer/hardware issue, then I haven't a clue how to diagnose it. any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated!!!

Just wrote this on someone else's thread but check that your Rambo cooling fan is working. A hot rambo can cause wired shit to happen.
