Wiring changes

Post by Renha »

Hello.

I am going to move stepper drivers to top plate of my RM2. So, I wouldn't need to lead high current wires from bottom to top plate, just signal wires. So, here the question: how I need to lead them? Is it o'k to have them near end-stop wires, in opposite of high-current stepper wires?

Sorry my English, I hope text is understandable enough... :?

Renha, I would not run the wires anywhere near the end-stop wires. Choose a location that is not close to the end-stop wires.

Even signal wires? o'k. What about their placement near to thermister wires?

This would be better than having them near the end stops and should not be a problem.

I'm curious how you are moving the stepper drivers to the top when the stepper drivers are SMT parts on the Rambo? Are you moving ALL the electronics up top or are you going to use an entirely different set of electronics (with separate motor drivers you can relocate near the motors)?

Per the suggestions above, do NOT run your end stop wiring near anything that can induce noise. End stops randomly triggering during a print will NOT be fun.

I have Azteeq X3 Pro, which has detachable motor drivers and quadstepper plate with 4 drivers on it.

So, low-power wiring (from Azteeq to motor drivers) could induce enough noise? Ok. What about noise resistance of that wiring?

Work in progress:
Stepper controller board
Stepper controller board
Maybe I don't need Azteeg X3 Pro anymore?...
only 3 wires per stepper! would be less
only 3 wires per stepper! would be less
Now I should investigate if Repetier Firmware could be easily modified to disable (inverse EN signal, reconfigure STEP and DIR as input to not damage outputs) inactive tools/extruders, then i would be able to use only 6 wires total to drive 4 extruders! And they are already there, in extrusion, from beginning!

Or maybe I should look into smoothie? Looks like it have gcodes to disable tools, but I don't know about DIR and STEP signals...

but I need to add some wires anyway, for delivery power to steppers (wires already there are too thin I think), and heaters, so I need to find a way to lead them to the top plates hidden.

[sorry my English again]
