First print!

Post by hubrigant »

After about 35 hours of work, I finally got my PEEK fan shroud printed, and on the first try, even!

To me, it looks as if it printed out fairly well for a newbie's first attempt. I see some goobers here and there (overextrusion?), but the part looks like the part, and the first layer looks pretty smooth. The print was done with MatterHackers Pro-series white ABS 1.75mm

Is there anything that I should be looking at adjusting based on these pics?

I would just double check the cheapskate adjustments, and print some more. Practice makes it better.

I'll check the Cheapskate adjustments. I'm curious, what in the print indicates that they might be out of adjustment? The slop near the corners?

the waviness of the vertical perimeters. Also, If it was your first print, the wheels tend to seat in a little bit.

+1 on the cheapskate adjustment. I went back after my first few prints and re torqued any screw I could get to as well. I found that I was a bit light handed during the initial assembly process. It still feels great to get that first print out after all of the invested hours!

I went through and checked all of the Cheapskates. They seemed OK to me, so I did some more looking and discovered that the Z-tower belt tensioner had slipped down to the bottom. I retensioned that tower and printed out the PLA fan shroud, which looks better.
