Official Doc v2 Assembly Guide, Fig 4-4 and 4-5 wrong

Post by jarek319 »

After reading so much text about how to carefully put the bottom plate top face in the proper alignment, the pictures Fig 4-4 and Fig 4-5 don't match the text or Fig 4-21...?

The clearest way to see it is when comparing the two wider spaces rectangle holes in 4-5 and 4-21

Sorry for brevity, I'm in the middle of the build ;)

oh god the banner just blinked and freaked me out...

You think the blinking banner on the forums is bad, just wait until you finish your build and your damn printer winks at you!

Unless I'm understanding your question wrong.

4-5 appears to be turned over so you can see the plastic screws going through the feet. when you rotate that back to the correct position it will match the rest of the pictures. I believe the tower support is not the Z axis so it looks like it's installed upside down. I think it's the y axis in the 4-3 picture.

You definitively want your base positioned like figure 4-3 with the further a part square hole of the Z tower to the left like the image shows. ( that's my only issue with the assembly guide, the use of left and right without seeing the registration marks for verification)

I just finished my mechanical build last night and now working on the calibration.

Also, If you haven't already passed section 7, Take a look at image 7-11 "before" you start wedging the supports though the holes.

I failed to see any registration marks to determine top from bottom when I inserted the first time. When I got to 7-11, I realized I messed up.

Just had to undo the entire top plate because i threaded the wrong axes through the wrong holes in the top (x through y, y thru z, etc) i wish there had been some text saying that the orientation made a difference....

I realized 4-4 and 4-5 don't show the side that is closest to you when assembling the previous step. the side that was being put together was z towards you initially, then changed to x towards you...

If i had a suggestion for V3, it'd be more gently laser cut orientation markers, with instructions which referenced these markers any time orientation matters. having x y and z on one plate is fine....but there's 4 plates XD

I agree, X Y Z laser cut markings on the top of all four large plates (like the main build plate) would make the build a lot smoother.

Oh my, all the time that I could have saved if all four plates would have been labeled XYZ on their top surface! It won't help me now, but PLEASE make this happen for future generations!

And a big +1 on THAT suggestion!

I realized also after putting the machine together completely..... the hole for the filament is on the wrong side! hahahaha... XD

I'm running my filament outside the machine and back in outside the frame. I'm thinking of flipping the input to the cold-end when I install the dampers on my extruder to kill the whine i'm getting from it.
