Kapton + Hair Spray

Post by dunginhawk »

So i am looking at a couple larger prints that simply wont stick with just kapton (i dont think anyway). Is it ok to use hair spray on kapton?
Or the Glue stick water mix? Will there be any issues ruining the kapton?

Just need to get an 8x8 item to stick and not curl up.
thanks

Yes higher beds temps help as well, so would an enclosure. whats the dimensions of the part to be printed?

8x5 x 1.5 inches.

I could use my 2nd printer which is fully enclosed and has the ability to get to 110c pretty easy on the bed...
im trying to prevent maybe having to do abs glue :) but i know thats not likely.

So if i wanted to use abs slurry, im cool with that.... i want to keep the surface of the print (bottom) looking good, so ill try to smooth the slurry.
once thats done, how do I clean off the abs slurry from the kapton? just more acetone?

For me the best is still: 2/3 beer + 1/3 isopropyl alcohol :)
Heatbed at 120°C.

I'm serious!

I tried hairspray, kapton and ABS glue, but this worked best for me.

Parts popp off at around 70°C. Heatbed can be cleaned with water from time to time.

I just scrape it off with a razor blade, but you can clean it off with acetone as well.
