Empty spools

Post by jdurand »

Anyone need empty spools? I just emptied 10 nice plastic spools that are looking for a good home.

If you're giving them away I can use them! :) I'm currently looking into getting a desktop filament maker (both strooder and fila-maker look promising).

Great! I'll have more in the future, still 2 weeks backordered on 3D prints. We REALLY need to finish our Max v2 so we can get onto the other projects that are waiting.

Free other than a shipping cost.

Contact me by PM and we'll set up shipping, billing, etc. We take PayPal, Dwolla, bitcoin, gold/silver coins, beer (only the good stuff), dark chocolate, ...

For this you will get our semi-eternal thanks. Ok, maybe not even semi-eternal but I promise to use all donations for something the average person would consider silly, or more likely totally incomprehensible.

I know there is some sort of initiative (saw it mentioned at RepRap.org forums) to come up with some sort of (potentially environmental friendly) standard spool sizes / type for everyone to adopt. It's a great idea, but I think that ship has sailed (but I guess it's never to late to try and launch another one).

I vote for one with a patented 5-sided core that only fits the patented stainless steel spindle.

Since the bearings in the patented stainless spindle are crap, for a slight extra fee you can order it with the patented microprocessor controlled despooler.

Note that the despooler can't be added on later, it has to be ordered with the spindle.

{ can you tell I've been in the tech business WAY too long? }

I have 5 more empty spools free for the asking, just pay postage plus if you're inclined I accept donations. I have one box that will hold 3 and two more individual boxes.

I ship by USPS with discounts so it's normally pretty cheap to ship these.

A bit late, but I sent you a beer's worth of bitcoin just for being a super cool guy. ;)

Enjoy a drink on me!

Wow, a tip? Thanks!

Anyway, to the person who just asked me about spools (you know who you are):

Some users couldn’t be added as they have disabled private message receipt.

So, yes I have some for you but can't tell you that.

Sorry about that, I though I turned it back on.
It will be on in 2 minutes, also will you take PAYPAL for payment?

Uhh, I thought I made it pretty clear... ;)

I just really like bitcoin and really despise PayPal. But don't let me stand in your way, certainly use whatever works for you and jdurand!

Some days I need to print me a brain.

Probably should make it a 24V brain while I'm at it.

Looks like UPS could use a brain too, they forgot to load the box of spools on the truck!
WE'VE LEFT THE PACKAGE IN OUR FACILITY. THIS MAY CAUSE AT LEAST ONE BUSINESS DAY DELAY.

Haha, wow! Never seen that on a tracking page before!

I wonder if they actually forgot, or if it's weather-related...

I don't fault them, as many packages they handle there is bound to be mistakes now and then.

True, but they normally don't outright say "we forgot your box". More like "Delay caused by breakdown", or weather, or waiting for a bald eagle crossing, or "circumstances beyond our control" or even unknown unknowns.

Waiting for a bald eagle crossing really made me laugh, thanks for the chuckle.

I have five more empty spools if anyone wants them. Pay the shipping and they're yours.

They're the same Afinia spools are a couple of other people have gotten from me.
