The mounting screw dimensions are the same as the SeeMeCNC Hot end plate, if you need any specific measurements, let me know.eatoutmikey wrote:Thanks for the links, while that explains what it is....... there are no dimensions given. A step file would be best if someone can find one but at the very least, outside dimensions and mounting screw locations are needed. Same with led.... what is the diameter between the screws? Re: Monolithic Platform for E3Dv6 Hot End
Anyone find it a pain to print the mount?
The huge accel on the Rostock causes it to lift up the first layer, usually on those inside bolt holes, my only solution so far is to reduce the travel speed, but not really a fan of doing that!!
And does anyone know if we can get those white bits for the arms, the metal rod that goes through and the plastic bit that goes around it (as the pic above), that would make swapping hotends way easier!
Ideally in the UK, shipping from US takes forever and is expensive :]
edit: Solved the adhesion issue by making some ABS juice

Re: Monolithic Platform for E3Dv6 Hot End
Predawnsky, that looks sweet! Good job.
Alright, I'm back!
I have my latest model of the platform installed, but it just missing a few things. I print mine out of PLA and they work great if you only print PLA with it. I tried printing ABS for one job and warped the paltform with the high temps in the enclosure. Not good. Have a find print me a ABS version soon.
I installed the stepper dampers which makes a difference, but it's not as huge that I though it would be. The GF can sleep with it running overnight, so that enough for me. I took decibel reads and they were the same near the machine and in the room next to it. The coarseness of the sound is reduced, so thats nice.
The Trick Laser arms are installed and they look so much better then the old fat ones. Used the hardware that came with it for the cheapskates, used M3 machine screws for mounting to the platform. Putting the locking nuts on the M3 rods that come with the arms are a pain to put on.
Still have to install the LED ring and the Yellow Jacket Board.
Here's a dark shady video of it printing.

Re: Monolithic Platform for E3Dv6 Hot End
Awesome, how does the hotend print vs stock with PLA? I primarily use PLA so this is the big factor for me!
I have the hotend anyway, so if worst comes to worst, I'll just build a new printer to put it on

There are some old files in the previous posts. I'll upload my more current models soon. I've been delayed in doing this with other life activities.critical_limit wrote:Any chance to get the Files?predawnsky wrote:got my e3d and did the mods

Re: Monolithic Platform for E3Dv6 Hot End
Here is the latest Solidworks file, have fun with it. Also, there is a loT of junk features that I just keep adding, so be careful. It needs some cleaning up.
Layer fan has not been design yet and I think a fan mounted on the outside will hit the arms in some cases.
And, remember this a work in progress and you will probably need to play with it. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
You'll also need the groove mount holder.

I uploaded the STL file for this one on my Nov 20th post. Someone had requested the source file, so I uploaded it.add1ct3dd wrote:No stl for the main file?Damn, I don't have solidworks!

Thanks guys
Got my E3d V6 here, but may wait until you find a way to add layer fans (hopefully we can get 3 on like the stock mount?)
That'd be perfect then

I'll have to work on that. Maybe over the Holidays. But I just got my PEI and copper sheets in, so I'll be playing with upgrading the heat bed also.add1ct3dd wrote:Thanks guys

What is preferred by everyone? 3 squirrel fan on the sides or 1 bigger fan with a duct surrounding the hotend?add1ct3dd wrote: No rush, printing is still fine with stock hotendI can just keep looking over at the E3d and wipe the drool every now and again

I will be going for the single duct and a bigger fan, haven't done much yet though... Idea's at this stage!BONE wrote:What is preferred by everyone? 3 squirrel fan on the sides or 1 bigger fan with a duct surrounding the hotend?add1ct3dd wrote: No rush, printing is still fine with stock hotendI can just keep looking over at the E3d and wipe the drool every now and again

Hey Crocky,
Are you using the model I uploaded or generating your own? Can't wait to see it.

Do you have any pics of it with the Yellow Jacket installed yet? I'm looking at mine and it appears I'll have to move the fan mounts and thermistor plug to the top of the board so it will lay flush.
Re: Monolithic Platform for E3Dv6 Hot End
No, nothing yet. I've been printing, but the printer project have been put on hold. Got to find some time to tinker.

Re: Monolithic Platform for E3Dv6 Hot End
These mounts look fantastic. I need to be able to mount a yellowjacket one though.
Re: Monolithic Platform for E3Dv6 Hot End
Anyone kind enough to share their E3d retraction settings for PLA?
Currently retracting 3.1mm at 50mm/s, Z-lift 1mm and minimum travel for retraction at 2mm. It's good for most prints, but still getting some stringing, can't seem to fully stop it!
