Sadly, this is what happens to just about every joke thread on every forum anywhere. As soon as it starts getting a bit pointy, someone jumps on their PC high hores and it all goes to shit.

So I ain't even going to start with the jokes. Regardless, everyone, remember you're all awesome and:

I never intended for my jokes to be interrupted as racist and I can certainly see why they could be and I removed them as quickly as I could.
I apologize for my racist remarks because I am not a racist and I feel that all men are created equal irregardless of their color or religion.
I will not be posting any more jokes because a lot of that type of writings can be interrupted as racist. I spent 6 years in the service of our
country defending our constitution and the ideal that all men are equal.

Thanks. I think you have a good heart and would never wish to hurt anyone's feelings. I just want to add a little perspective to this.

I say these things as a former white kid from a school district that was very not white. I was the kid who had to sit there and listen to people talking s*** on my race, and I hated it. They knew that the one white kid in the whole class wasn't going to take on the ten minorities who were either telling the racist jokes, or laughing at them while looking straight at me. It sucks to be provoked unfairly by someone you aren't in a position to retaliate against. That's why I can't do that, and why it makes me sad to see other people doing it and acting like it doesn't even matter. It does matter. People get stuffed into gas chambers and dragged to death behind trucks because of racism. Whatever underpins and normalizes racism, like racist jokes, is not something I can just shine on. There may have been any number of minorities who read the racist jokes, wanted to say, "Hey, I heard enough of this being shouted at me my whole life already," but didn't, because they didn't want to be the odd one out. That doesn't mean it doesn't sting.

When I was five, I had my Asian friend over, and I recited a rhyme to him that I'd heard from some other kids: "Chinese, Japanese, dirty knees, don't look at these!" He acted hurt, and asked me not to say such things. I apologized and didn't do it anymore, although at the time I didn't understand. I eventually came to realize that it's not cool to talk s*** on a group of people you don't belong to. It offends our most basic, monkey-derived instincts to see our group attacked by another, and we still have those instincts because they're still useful. It's normal to take offense at that.

And this is why we can't have nice things.

Yes, sometimes. I see a lot of overblown PC stuff on social media and some of it makes me cringe. However, we can't just have it be 1950 forever. At some point, we have to stop provoking each other and demonstrate a little respect.
