Remote Desktop Client

Post by Mac The Knife »

I've downloaded Microsoft's Android app, And I can control my printer, through my workstation, through my home network. But i can not do so through the internet. I've opened the ports on my router, but its the rest of the damn credcentials for the app itself I'm messing up with. Any one else try this and get it to work?

I'm assuming your using remote desktop client? port 3389? i see you opened it, is that port forwarded to the server?

So you can connect local through wireless on your phone.

You cant connect through your phones data connection.

Try to connect to my server both through wireless and through your data plan. xx.xxx.xx.xxx  This should popup and ask you for a usename and password.

Basically that means you're hitting my authentication server and means you made a connection.

Does that happen on both networks, internal and external?

Some cell carriers block RDP and I'm just trying to check that.

Yes, that was both. That will give me something else to try when I get out of work. So At the second logon, I don't need to enter my router log in stuff, just the pc login stuff?

Negative, by port forwarding 3389 to your workstation any connection attempt made to your external IP address will be automatically handed off. Your are basically bypassing your router on that single port.

If you like, you can PM me your external IP and I can test to see if I receive the same popup. If I don't then it might be a port forwarding issues since you can connect on the internal network.

Also, I'll send you a screenshot of my phone. I create two separate connections to my server, one for local and the other for remote.
