unresponsive USB control

I have never been able to use matter control unless I click one button per 10 seconds or it locks up. I installed octoprint on a banana pro and it seemed to work well, printed a part, later reinstalled everything and it also hangs now when clicking buttons too fast. I can hit the home button after some clicks and the LCD will say homing but it won't do anything.

I have heard of this issue from others as well, is there a way to fix it? I thought about using the serial connection but haven't tried it yet.

Have you tried Repetier Host yet?

The commands usually pile up after an extrude or retract command, it seems like if I don't touch the extrude or retract buttons, I can jog around. Hit those and it usually freezes up.

I have not, I struggled getting this set up so I'm gonna give it a couple days before I struggle some more
