Re: drunkenmugsy's build thread
Looking at putting OctoPi on a raspPi B+. The setup of my printer lair is not conducive to direct connection of printer.
Re: drunkenmugsy's build thread
if you havent purchased the PI yet be sure to grab the newest Pi2

Re: drunkenmugsy's build thread
This B+ is just one I have laying around. I will probably upgrade it to a RPi2 eventually once they are easier to get, i.e. go to microcenter/Fry's and get one.

I was hoping this thing would come in the afternoon today. Now I have to look at it all day at work and not open it.

Tape hell was not so bad. Thats what 15 yr olds are for right? Especially when they want to use the printer? Honestly I got this for him as much as me. Building skills in multiple areas...
Also did the hotend mucky muck last night. Looks pretty good I think.

Reached build checkpoint 1. Moving on. I think we need some IN-N-OUT Burgers first though.

Got some burgers. Back to work. Got the Trick Laser stepper dampers installed. They compressed more than I thought. I had to readjust the depth of the belt drive gears. Next the top went on. Got that on pretty easy without even screwing down one side. Pretty slick kit so far. I am impressed.

Re: drunkenmugsy's build thread
Looks like this is our stop point for the night. The little is pooped and the wife wants attention.
I was tripping there for a second. I put the glass plate on the heated bed and it was all wobbly. about 1-2mm on one side if you pressed the opposite down. I looked and looked going W.T.F. The damn kapton tape on the bed thermistor was folded over sealing it up just like it is supposed to. It is not even tacky yet. I put the glass away...

Towers are wired and in. Labeled all nice and neat to keep me from wiring 18awg as 22awg or PEEK as layer. Because you know, reasons.

Re: drunkenmugsy's build thread
Top is on and towers aligned. However I am not happy with the smaller square that I have. I may have to revisit the alignment.
It seems that my heated bed is domed in the center from the get go. How to fix this? No its not the kapton tape this time.

Re: drunkenmugsy's build thread
Check to make sure the wires between the snowflake & the base aren't bundled up and pressing up on the back side of the Onyx plate.
If the Onyx plate is removed from the snow flake, is it still domed when unmounted?

Re: drunkenmugsy's build thread
Test fit of the Trick Laser arms upgrade. Yes I know the plate is backwards. I did 2 that way before I realized it. But I dont care if the eyes look to the left. It will be unique. They are all looking the same way.
I will check the wires under the bed. I suspected it might be something like that. I put a small zip tie on the wires under there. With the spacers it shouldnt be bound up but it might be I guess.

If you put on the glass and clamps around the edges is the doming still present?
