The "rules" are simple, your printer does not have to be a kit bought from SeeMe, but it does have to have the same design. Design is determined by the sheet parts, melamine for most, acrylic for a few, plywood for myself, and aluminum for one or two others. They can be any material as long as the main frame parts are cut from a sheet of material, and the design is based off of or the same design as the Rostock MAX, V1 or V2, so that coolio V1.5 in the build thread does count.
The "competition" or game I suppose operates on a simple scoring system. I will try to clarify each part of the system after Ive gone through the scoring system.
- Each piece of your frame (cut sheet parts) made from a material other than melamine is worth 5 points.
- Each redesigned piece of the frame is worth 5 points.
- Each replaced injection molded (or other plastic (like bearing covers)) part is also worth 5 points
- A different controller board is worth 15 points. A different LCD is worth 10
- A 24v upgrade is worth 20 points
- A replaced hotend is worth 7 points PER added nozzle (must be working)
- An enclosure (Full enclosure) is worth 15 points unheated, if it is heated it is worth 25 points
- Extra fans are worth 2 points each
- A mod to your hotend (water cooling on a V6, etc) is worth 10 points
- An extruder not attached to the top plate (626pilot's design, the Fly-n-strude, or the flying extruder) is worth 15 points, with an extra 7 points per extra extruder in this configuration
- Extended aluminum extrusions is worth 10 points
- Dampers are worth 2 points per damper
- A different extruder design, or a geared extruder mod is worth 4 points per extruder
- Added build surface (PEI, GekoTek, Garolite, etc) is worth 3 points
- Aluminum/copper heat spreaders are worth 5 points
- Autoleveling systems are worth 6 points, 10 points if they are actually used and working
- "Greeblies" (e.g. Emile's R2D2 addons to his Orion) are worth 2 points per.
Clarifications:
- Fasteners do not count (screws, nuts, bolts)
- Bearings count as plastic pieces
- Mods like the TL arm upgrade and the Trick Trucks only count for the parts they replace. TL arms are worth 150 points (6 arms+12 joints+6 axles+ 6 tensions clips), TrickTrucks are worth 375 points.(24 bearing covers, 12 eccentrics, 12 bearing spacers, 6 carriage plates, 12 bearings)
