EZ Struder PLA fix?

I assembled a Kossel 2020 and have been having trouble with it's cold end extruder. The printer came with a small direct drive that has no adjustment. I tried putting a spare EZ Struder on it that I bought a while ago for the Rostock Max. The classic arm-style geared extruder was better for PLA so I've been using it ever since with my Rostock Max.

Has there been an update or fix for the EZ Struder so it doesn't stall out while pushing PLA?

I have 4 EZ Struders, and I've never had an issue with PLA, I am using the original Wantai steppers, rather than the newer Kushan ones. Skipping is usually a function of back pressure, which can be the result of temperature, printing speed or with PLA partial jams, oversized filament can also do it.

When you get feed problems the first thing to do is to remove the bowden tube and try feeding by hand I usually start with it disconnected at the hit end and feed by hand then to the same thing with Bowden tube disconnected at the extruder.

I've found that depending on the hotend, the stock ezstruder is a little underpowered...specifically when using an all metal hotend or very long bowden tube, either of which will increase the amount of friction and therefore the amount of torque needed by the extruder.
