Have a preorder Max. Trying to get software that will bring it alive now. Trying to get a display to work. Trying not to drop Max out window. Customer support says system is too old to be able to provide proper software to run right. They say you all are the best chance of bringing life to this beasty. Which version of Repetier is best? (Tried starting 91 but could not answer all the set of questions.)
Rambo 1.0e with the old pulleys and steppers. Been working of a dedicated XP computer which Matter Control does not like. Got a handicapped Tablet (Matter Touch) but that is useless also.

At this point probably should start again from scratch....all recommendation gratefully accepted.

The MatterTouch tablet is pretty nice from what I've heard. I haven't used one yet.

If memory serves, the 1.0e board uses 8th step drivers instead of the 16th ones that newer boards have.

I would grab the very first assembly guide and start picking your way through it.

Your easiest starting point for firmware would be the .91 from SeeMe's github repo. That's gonna have the pins configured properly for the LCD, etc. You'll still need to tweak the step settings and the steps per/mm to account for the old pulleys.

You also have the option of bringing it to MRRF where I can personally scare it to death with a screwdriver.

Srcewdriver, if you were closer, I would be happy to. I will threaten to break out the cutting torch and clamp the pieces to the old bridgeport before I throw them under the 2 ton press. That will put the fear of something into it....Though I expect the assembly is fine. I have done my share of board stuffing and machine wiring. And that was before a few decades of a prototype machining. Now the software....

I was hoping to find someone who has already done the firmware changes and thereby save me a bunch of time. I have tried the .91 set up pages and there was a lot of stuff I could not answer.

Like I said, grab the .91 firmware from the SeeMeCNC github repository. Once you do that the only changes you need to make to it involve the tooth count on the gears, the microstep count, the steps per mm and possibly the direction each axis travels. (might have to invert one, I don't recall)

Grabbed the .91, made the changes, and can not upload. Get an Hal.h.184:18 error
