print layers move

Post by stonewater »

Morning everyone,

having a few problems but this one is the one I cannot figure out. here is my specs

rostock max V1
repetier.91
stock everything no arms no tensioners nothing
using matter control and matter slice
using auto bed leveling in matter control

when I print an object, a single object, centered on the bed it prints a few layers just fine, then maybe 5 layers up the print shifts towards the rear tower for 2 or 3 layers, then it continues to print in its new location over the print. I end up with a step in the print. I have done the calibration steps seemecnc posted on youtube, this of course causes a weak print if it is something with a thin wall like a calibration box.

my first impression is that this is actually a hardware problem, not software (unless the slicer is doing it somehow)... I have checked belt tension, check all the nuts an screws on the carriages, gave them all the wiggle test, check my arms for play, watched the thing like a hawk to see if there was a mechanical problem as it was moving, looking for jarring or popping or anything that would cause this problem.

hi everyone so I discovered what was wrong, that was that the plain bearings on the tower side of the delta arms, one each on 2 of my towers was seized. material was actually stuck on the stainless shaft. really hard to get the bearing off. on the other tower the delta arm plastic mount had been sanded a bit too much and so it was moving side to side. one of the drive belts had a wear spot on it so I turned the belt around. I was planning on upgrading eventually so I purchased the tricklaser arms... we will see if this solves the problem :)

Congrats on getting everything working! Mastering the calibration and beginning prints can be difficult for some so you
should feel proud that you accomplished it.
