extruder and extruder fan stopped working

Howdy,

I've been doing tests on my e3d volcano on my Orion Delta, getting great results and was printing some calibration files for a blog post on 1.2mm nozzle settings, when all of a sudden the cooling fan cutout and the extruder stopped heating. To clarify, I'm talking about the fan that sucks the heat off the hotend heatsink, an the extruder nozzle. I can't get either of them to work. I checked the external wiring and everything is fine, did the whole turn if off and on again thing, event tried gcode direct, and verified that the thermistor is reading properly (and it is). So now I'm here for some advice on a procedure on what to check next.
