MatterControl vs Repetier-Host

Post by Tincho85 »

Hi guys, I've been using Repetier-Host since I bought my Rostock Max, but now it seems that Genes manual explains how to use MatterControl.

My question is, is it worth moving to MatterControl? What are the benefits vs Repetier-Host?

Wouldn't be worth it to me. If you like Repetier then continue to use it.

I still use Repetier too. The only MC feature that I really like is that it can text message you when your print is done.

That's only if you run the job over USB though, and I don't do that very often.

I'm very happy with MC - Rep Host seems ancient when I go back and use it from time to time. Bed Leveling is a huge advantage.

i too, like MC. I downloaded the latest and i like everything about it. I switch from MatterSlice to Slic3r within MC from time to time. Slic3r seems to lag in the interface, but seems to print better. I'll need to experiment more. The UI in MC is nice and seems more modern. I haven't actually printed something from Rep Host, but I've played around w/ it. IMO, I like the more modern UI. Makes things a lot easier, even though it could be way better than what it is. So I'll have to ask, is it worthwhile to try to use Rep Host instead of MC if I got everything working in MC?

If it's not broke, why fix it until it is? :)

Are you claiming that they quit trying to fix MatterContol? I got tired of having to reacquaint myself with it after they released an "update".

No, I was saying that as long as MatterControl met their needs, RH wouldn't do much for them.

Just because you don't care for the user interface doesn't mean it's broken.

Also, there was *one* major interface change since MatterControl became the host platform of choice. If I've told you once, I've told you a billion times, quit exaggerating. :D :D
