E3DV6 or Jhead?

So i want to try out a new hotend and i don't know which one of those is most recommended on the max v2? I mostly use PLA, but i've read several people having trouble with PLA on E3Dv6..
Would be nice to hear from people that use either of those hotends.

It's mostly those who don't change retract settings that have issue. The E3D V6 likes 3mm and lower retracts.

With that said; I don't know much about Jheads, but I would go with this over the others and right now it's on sale.

If you do most of your printing with PLA and want to change to a different hot end, don't go any further than the hot-ends.com J-Head. It's the gold standard for that model of hot end. I've got a .4 and a .25 and they both perform flawlessly.

Try the Prometheus, it's basically unjammable.

I own both, and they're both very nicely made.

The JHead is renowned as the best hot-end for PLA, and I'd say that the E3D is the best jack of all trades. The E3D is also the right choice if you're ever going to do anything hotter than ABS like Nylon or PET.

One of the guys from the Hive had never been able to print with his E3D (funny you mention the Prometheus, that became his favorite) and at MRRF this weekend they arranged to replace it for him and they're going to cut his in half to investigate why it's not working... That's customer service, and shows that they're very interested in their customers' success and constant improvement.

I just got my E3d v 6 in the mail today, took about 1 hour to install. I've already printed 3 parts today. The install was trouble free and the prints are looking great so far! I really like the thermistor mount as well as the speed in which it gets to target temp. I ordered from Matterhackers it was here in MN in 2 days.

I have the E3d v6 and never had and issues, but I also have the Prometheus for a new printer I'm gathering parts for.

My understanding the stainless steel nozzles will last longer with the more abrasive filaments. MatterHackers sales them for the E3D V6 although kind of expensive at $35 a nozzle.

Check out 33:30 in the E3D video above. There's a huge difference between the 10kg PLA nozzle on the left and the 250g CF one on the right.

Interesting, I was thinking more of the stainless steal and iron from Proto-Pasta. I had no idea that Carbon Fiber was that abrasive.
