Trouble with top layers
Trouble with top layers
So I'm having issues with my top layers not filling in completely on some prints. I have it set at the default with 3 bottom and 3 top printing ABS. Just out of curiosity what are you guys running for top layer settings?

Re: Trouble with top layers
your first layer often determines your last one.... is your first layer the correct thickness?

Re: Trouble with top layers
I'm pretty sure I need to recalibrate. As I was watching it lay down the first layer last night I noticed it was laying a much thicker layer out towards the end of my print (about 8" wide) and then towards the middle it was very thin.
What do you mean by the first layer often determines your last one?

Re: Trouble with top layers
Basically it just gives you an idea of what the top will look like. For example if your first layer lays down smooth but the second layer has grooves from scrapping the nozzle into the previous layer. That's what you can expect to see on every layer including the top layer.
Thin in the middle and thicker on the outside is probably a horizontal radius adjustment.

Re: Trouble with top layers
you could try thicker layers. With 0.1 layers I still had holes with 5-layer-top, with 0.2 i haven't ones with 3-layer-top.
3D printing is magic!
