LCD Smoke out.

So I was about an hour in to calibrating my stop points / concave leveling, when as I was saving setting to the eeprom the LCD started billowing smoke. I haven't torn apart the screen yet to see what exactly failed and I have my first prints working with out the LCD screen =)

I would like to know if anyone has any idea what would cause this to happen, so it doesn't happen again when I replace it.

Not sure if this helps anyone... but the chip labeled U3 on the 2004a lcd board is what smoked.

I assume you got this fixed, if so was it a warranty issue?
