Re: mhackney's Beta DropLit build
Hello, the guy in Brazil sells the droplit with HD projector, they forgot to include the projector in the description.
For a fully tested Droplit with HD projector the price in Brazil should be around US$3.000.

Re: mhackney's Beta DropLit build
Experiment - that's the only way to do it. Start with 10 sec exposure and go from there.

Re: mhackney's Beta DropLit build
10 seconds is probably way on the high side, considering how small the image is on a droplit. But yep, you've just got to experiment to find the ideal exposure time.

Hi,
The resin left in the vat can be returned to the packaging G +?

Re: mhackney's Beta DropLit build
I tried 2 settings 10s and 25s without success, with G+ white.
Maybe will I have to remove the UV filter lamp?
cheers!

Re: mhackney's Beta DropLit build
Yes, remove the UV filter. Every projector is different, that's why you need to experiment. Every resin is different too. I had a devil of a time with the G+ blue but the G+ red worked nicely. I don't know how the G+ white is.
I had to turn down brightness to 50% on my projector so I didn't overexpose everything.

I use petri dishes with covers and leave the left over resin in the covered dish in a dark place.
Re: mhackney's Beta DropLit build
mhackney, doesn't the action of the Z axis pulling up pull the platform away from the traxxas ends? That would not compress the springs at all, plus the traxxas ends are locked in place by the thumbscrews. I've printed out your platform hoping I was missing something but I'm still missing it. Help?
Re: mhackney's Beta DropLit build
All I can say is it works fine, think about it some more or make it and you'll see how it works.

It's likely just me, lol. I made it. Did you finish it off with aluminum or try with just PLA?
Re: mhackney's Beta DropLit build
I added an aluminum plate epoxied to the bottom.

Re: mhackney's Beta DropLit build
Sorry to take so much of your time but here is where I get hung up. If the thumbscrews lock the traxxas ends in position to the platform top, how do the springs compress or extend giving you the passive tilt?
Re: mhackney's Beta DropLit build
Ok, I was on my iPhone earlier and it was hard to type... Here's the scoop:
What I found was if one side of the part stuck to the bottom of the vat, as the platform continued to lift, a little slack in the vat hold down clamps would allow the other side to compress the springs. It was a very minor effect and unanticipated. I'm not sure if I would rely on it.

At my Makerspace we call that a design feature, especially when it does what you don't want it to do.
Re: mhackney's Beta DropLit build
I'm giving it a shot trying to rely on tensioning the springs differently to pull the platform up unequally. Probably won't work, but it won't be my first failure.

Strange, I heard Mercedes dealerships say the same about their cars.

It's not a bug. It's a feature!
Re: IMPORTANT GRBL HEX FILE NOTE
Was this ever updated? Sorry to barge in =) I just finished the hardware portion of the build and am having a hell of a time finding a correct/usable version of the firmware. The I can upload the version found early in this thread make my motor windup like a turbine or upload one I googled from github and I can get grbl some commands to be recognized, but no movement.mhackney wrote:FOlks, it may be that the grbl hex file I uploaded the other day is not the correct one I am using! I think it may have been my experimental build. In response to a private message I got last night, I looked through my archives and discovered a more recent grbl.hex file and source base that I built on 8/22/2014. I believe that is the one the is correct and may be why folks are having problems with the one I posted the other day. I've asked the inquirer to try the new one. Once he's validated it, I'll distribute it. If you'd like to try it between now and then, PM me and I'll send it along. I just don't want to spend time fixing a bunch of posts here until I know that's the problem!
Any links to correct versions would be greatly appreciated.
Re: mhackney's Beta DropLit build
It was not validated and I'd prefer not to propagate bad code. I can send you the code if you PM me - I'll be home this weekend.
