Azteegx5 mini question
Azteegx5 mini question
Lookin to build a giant delta bot using the 626pilot auto calibration firmware and nema 23 motors. I went ahead and grabbed an azteeg x5 mini but now I am wondering if that can actually drive such large steppers. Anyone know?

Re: Azteegx5 mini question
With cooling, the driver specs claim 2.2 amp. without cooling, 1.5 amp. so it depends on your steppers. The nema 23 motors on my mill draw 2.8 amps per coil.

Re: Azteegx5 mini question
the drivers are soldered onto the board,,,,, I haven't looked at mine to see if you can tap into the step and direct signals to run an external drive. As for stepper drivers, I prefer Geckodrives.

Re: Azteegx5 mini question
Whenever you get a chance to look at yours please get back to me, I may have to dial it back down to nema 17s after all.
EDIT: Was thinking about pairing it with these if it is possible: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free-Shi ... 59171.html

Re: Azteegx5 mini question
Looking at the Azteeg X5, I don't see any readily available way to run an external drive, but looking at the literature for the smoothie board, they do. As for drives, I'd much rather this http://www.geckodrive.com/geckodrive-st ... /g540.html

Is this what you were looking at? http://smoothieware.org/cnc-mill-guide
I may have to use my azteeg on a different printer and grab a smoothieboard then, oh well. If anyone on here has a smoothie they would like to get rid of please let me know, thanks.

Re: Azteegx5 mini question
So I checked out the documentation on the Cartesio v0.6 and it uses pololu steppers to drive its Nema 23s, does this mean I may be able to get by using the Azteeg on an upsized rostock max with a larger bed? This is the size of the bed I am going to go with: 16.73 inches / 425 mm aluminum disc from sandsmachine.com
EDIT: A followup question would be: Am I ok going with a nema 17 setup on a giant delta using 4 foot extrusions and the larger bed described above?
