B3 Innovations Pico Hot End

Post by KAS »

Anyone have experience using the B3 Innovations Pico Hot End?

Curious about the no peek fan. I do like the vertical heater cartridge.

I got 2, a 1.75 and a 3mm. You have to print 10-20 degrees hotter than the standard hotend (as they recommend). Probably due to the SS construction and the poor heat conduction. Changing filaments can be a pain because of how the plug can form inside the hotend, I actually got some nylon jammed in my 3mm one and I had to use a drill to remove it (was not fun at all). Surface quality was pretty good and parts were okay, but its still a relatively new design, and IMO E3D is considerably better. Never tried PLA in it, but I'm pretty sure it would be frustrating with a bowden setup.

Nylocke, maybe the 3mm version would benefit from a longer heatblock/meltzone? I know you have made custom volcanoes so why not give a pico volcano a shot?
