Ez-Struder

Post by Gundy1024 »

I know this has been covered but I could not find a good fix for mine and was hoping you all could. I am having major log jamming inside my ez-struder.

I have just recently started to have this problem and I am stumped. I have been able to print 10 to 20+ hours prints just fine till just a couple of days ago and now the ez-struder stepper motor is getting so hot that the hobbed gear is making the filament hot enough to become plyable and get all jammed up in the ez-struder.

If it is a current thing then why did it just now show up for me? Also, where do I go to change this setting?

If the motor is getting hotter than it normally does I would say the nozzle is partly clogged causing more back pressure. Have you changed print settings like faster feed or anything else in your slicer settings?
Have you changed filaments when this started? PLA is more sensitive to extruder temperature than ABS.

I find putting a small (30 or 40mm) fan blowing at ezstruder makes it more reliable. It will reduce softening of filament in extruder causing jams and the motor runs cooler.

The motor current is set in firmware with the Arduino software. I don't remember what line it is located.
If it has been working you should not need to change it, but it would be good to check to see what it is set at.
There are notes in firmware for recommended settings.

Ok, I changed the current setting according to SeeMeCNC down to 140,140,140,140,0. Did the same print in the same color and it printed, motor is still getting warm but not near as bad as it was before. Now I just need to figure out this stringing issue and I should have this thing tuned pretty good.
