I'm designing and building my own quadcopter I'm calling the Gargoyle. It will be an "I" or "H" design much like the DJI Inspire. Here is the first part:

Have you thought about printing this with carbon fiber PLA? I hear that's popular among drone builders. I don't think it's much lighter than regular PLA, though. I have a spool of the stuff here. Haven't bothered printing anything with it.

If I like the design, I may redo it with the Carbon Fiber or Nylon. But I'll need to upgrade my Hotend first. SeeMeCNC Rostock Max V2

That project looks awesome, great work! Any idea what it will weight when it's all done? Are you going to share the design when it's finished?
I've been working on an H-frame 250 racer the last week or so. I'll share more of that when I get back home and can print some of the parts, right now it's only digital.
The advantage of the CF-PLA is that it's stronger, not lighter. You can design your parts to be lighter and know that the material will be more rigid. This stiffness also makes it more brittle though, so I wouldn't use it for something that needs to be durable and take some abuse like your landing gear.

Hey jimustanguitar, I'm currently using an Ardupilot knock off. But now that its no longer supported, I'm thinking of getting the pixhawk. I do plan on sharing the files, but I want to make it fly first.
