Extruder wont push filament
Extruder wont push filament
When I use matter control 1.2 to control the extruder the motor spins left and right over and over. very little filament comes out

Re: Extruder wont push filament
Do you have your filament multiplier on the LCD set to anything other than 100%?

No its at 100BenTheRighteous wrote:Do you have your filament multiplier on the LCD set to anything other than 100%?

Re: Extruder wont push filament
That usually is caused by poor or incorrect connections of the stepper motor wiring. Looks like at least one phase is not connected.

I checked all the connections and still nothingDale Eason wrote:That usually is caused by poor or incorrect connections of the stepper motor wiring. Looks like at least one phase is not connected.

Re: Extruder wont push filament
When you say spins left and right, does it move in the commanded direction consistently or does it alternate/vibrate?

It does it when it has to extrude or retract
Re: Extruder wont push filament
Someone else was having that kind of movement. I'll try to find that post to make sure it's the same issue.

Re: Extruder wont push filament
That's a bad connection on the stepper circuit somewhere, or the stepper is mis-wired.
I had it happen when I had in inline connector on the motor wires, the connection looked good, but was just poor enough that one of the lines had intermittent connectivity.
I would start by looking at the crimped connector at the RAMBO board, a poor crimp on one of the pins or badly seated pin in the connector would be enough to do it.
Of course could be a bad stepper driver as well, but that's much less likely.

Re: Extruder wont push filament
Just hook that extruder up to X axis and try to home the towers. If it works, then most likely is a connection issue. (Polygonhell's suggestion above)
You can also put the x axis stepper on the extruder port, just be careful and hover the power button before it hits something.
Also, check your endstop switch wires aren't touching the stepper wires.

bah, just found it

I had to wire them into the connector exactly like the order on the other connectors. The manual is wrong. I just did this a week ago. If the extruder shakes back and forth, you wired it incorrectly. The order I used was red, green, white, black, which would make the picture on the build guide (Figure 16-25 on page 189) wrong.
