Extruder Temperature Help

Post by jasperash »

Hi all,

I've just completed my Rostock build and am about to extrude some filament. During the Matter Control setup, the document calls up and shows two buttons to the right of the extruder temperature. PLA and ABS. My installation doesn't have them. I can see that is just a temperature preset. The document indicates the temp should be 190 degrees for PLA but says nothing of the temperature for ABS. What temperature should I set for ABS? I tried the 228 that is in the ABS material preset but it does nothing which I assume is that firmware restriction.

Thanks.

I tried 228 and nothing happenned. I got it to work at 200, so maybe that is the firmware setting. Not sure if its right tho? I think the printing is working at 228 but its when I add filament and hit extrude +10 that I'm having trouble working it out.

Should it still work at 228?

Thanks.

When you enter "228" in the temperature field and hit enter, (or 200 or whatever other figure) do you see the target temperature you set reflected in the LCD on the printer?

So when you set it for 228, how high does it get?

HI Gene, The temp of the hot end works pretty well. If I set it to 228, it will settle near enough to 228. Its extruding fine during printing. The issue was only with loading the filament and hitting the E+ button. I just wanted to know what temperature the firmware allows the E+ button to work at, as the manual suggested it was restricted but didn't tell the temperature for ABS for it to work. Seemed to work ok at 190 to load, which is the temp the manual says for PLA to load. After that the hot end works fine.

Thanks,

Don't use the E+/E- buttons at all. There's still some outstanding issue that renders them useless. If you need to feed filament by hand, click on the RELEASE button and just turn the knob on the extruder.
