Three extruders, single nozzle

Post by jesse »

I'm trying to get a diamond nozzle working with a Kossel 2020 (delta). The firmware it currently has is Marlin.

RAMPS 1.4 has room for two extruders. I added a third extruder using the GRBL / CNC Shield.

This is the wiring: http://reprap.org/wiki/Adding_more_extruders

I tried this firmware that is designed for multiple extruders and single nozzle, but it's not clear to me how to add the third extruder via the daughterboard to the RAMPs.

Has anyone tried doing this? If so, can you post your firmware?

I found a way to mount it using a single rubber band.

I was able to get it working using this firmware.

The machining on the cold zones looks familiar :)

Rather than three fans, what about running a fan to blow down between all three, together with some kind of deflection cone/shroud which directs the air across the heatsinks and away from the nozzle?

That's a good idea and that's what the creators of the diamond nozzle recommend. Like this: https://myhub.autodesk360.com/ue29fb034 ... 5994847d18

The hot end platform has a small hole that I don't want to enlarge. If I print another effector with a larger center hole that could work. Also, if a single fan is used, it must be high CFM such as Delta AUC0512DB.

Thanks, but i'm using the cheap e3d clone heatsinks that aren't the same size.

If you have or could create stl of diamond assembled with your heatsinks, I could try to make needed modifications

The fans are mounted. I need to improve the mount for the servo. The bed is too out of level and the plastic is leaking from the heat breaks
