Has anyone used the new "Injection Molded Cheapskate Carriage Set"

What do you think of them?

I have not installed mine yet, seems to have one problem so far with them and just seeing if anyone thinks they are that much better before I waste my time on them.

I did leave a "Review" on there parts web sight here back on 9-1-2015 but I see they did not post it. Customer Reviews on that page is still blank. Do they only post the positive ones? Never got a reply from them ether.

why not? Reviews may be not only about functionality, thay may be about packaging quality, venomous snakes inside of carriage, etc.

Packaging issues are what product support teams are for, along with customer returns for broken products. They learn that real quick.
Product reviews should correlate to a products usage (Good or Bad) for other customers to gauge an understanding of the products intended purpose vs actual result.
ISPM 15 practices will take care of venomous snakes and nematodes for overseas shipping.

So I was getting ready to install this weekend, was going to order a new set of Carriage Base U Joint Mounts (3 pack).

then I found out it does not need them.

I use the Thumbscrews for End Stop Adjusting.

They are a lot better then the cheep Phillips head screws. No one wants to be messing around with them.

Does not seem like that's going to work. it's going to be difficult to drill and tap the new plastic pieces the way they are.

I would recommend we go back to the drawing board and redesign them to work the the Thumbscrews.

Now I know that seems like small thing for some but not me...

I I decided NOT to put these in...sounds like a big headache to me and I have not found anyone that used them and said they are a lot better. Maybe I wait until the next thing they come up with.

I did look at the set Tricklaser has, but to costly to "TRY"

No, no they're not. See, the "cheep" screws do the exact job they're asked to do. Even if you're constantly making calibration-breaking changes to your machine, the default screw is still a good choice for the job.

Yeah, that's not likely to happen. Why? Because the screws do the job just fine.

I would strongly suggest you build the machine as-designed and understand how to use it before you go off making changes.

I'm with geneb on this. Try running full stock for a while before making changes. Even with all the research i did before buying, and having known very little about deltas before that, i knew that none of the mods suggested online and in these forums would make sense to me if i didn't understand the problems they were attempting to correct.

The biggest argument i have with your complaints, including the valid ones, is simple.We are discussing 3D printers here (and a rather awesome one i might add), which are essentially the epitome of the DIY/modder mindset. You seem to want everything to just work and to do it exactly as you feel it should right out of the box. That would be great, but it's an expectation unbecoming of a community like ours. If you want something to work your way, make it your way. Don't do or add something just cause everyone else with a printer is doing it. Step back and ask yourself "If this is so obviously inadequate, how can I improve it?".

I'm a "trial by fire" type of person so when it came time to print upgrades for my printer i took the hard road. I looked at what other people were doing, looked at the issues I was having, and rather than grabbing someones STLs, I set out to make my own. after many cycles of print and replace, I have learned much more about printing in general than if i would have just used some other persons designs and files.

TL;DR

1- End stop screws
They work fine, even though they feel loose. Worst case, do what i did. Seat them as low as you can so they are nice and tight and calibrate your bed level to the screw that sits the highest. fairly easy to figure out.

2- U joint mounts
geneb was right about reading up before purchasing, not to mention the pictures themselves. Either way, if you were running stock, you could just print your own. I have magnetic arms so when i got my new carriages, i went strait for the calipers, and by the end of the night I had custom mounts for my setup. (picture below)

3- Compatibility with other mods like Fly-N-Strude, etc

The Trick Laser CF Arms work fine with new molded carriage.
As far as Flyn-N-Strude, simply loop elastic cord around axle holder and tie off, or use miniature bungee cords and place hooks over axle holder. Simple.

I agree, that it is best to build and run machine bone stock before making changes/mods/upgrades.

The new molded carriages are a big improvement over original cheapskate design. If you already have them, go ahead and install them, it will be worth the effort.
