Greecian Triaconder - Board Game Peice

Post by Agisis »

Hi all,
I did some extensive research and modeled this Carthenian Triaconter. It's missing 10 oars per side, but I need the ship to be little shorter in length so that the larger ships still fit into the hexagons (yes yes, i'ts not 100% historically accurate, but concessions must be made at times!). I'm working on a table-top gaming concept and fleshing out the models. This is the first one. I approached it in sections that get chained together (bow, stern, rowing sections) and will also be adding Triremes, Biremes, and a capital ship Quinquereme. I hope you like my first print of it!

Sure, np. I plan to release the entire game with instruction on repables. I've got 3 other ship types, then the marines, catapults, and fire ships. Then the hexagons, coastlines, etc. It's gonna be big. Let's see if I finish it. ha. I'll keep it going in this thread. I've been working on the mechanics for a few days now.

This one include the sail. I haven't printed the sail yet, but I attached it for fun. I may need to put a bit more of a holder in the ship for the mast because masts were used during favorable winds, but not during battles. They would take them down so it must be detachable.

The sail needs more work. Such is the punishment for not printing the sail before sharing it. hehe. I know what I need to do. I'll repost later.

Here are the latest STLs that work best, and a few pics of the fleet. I painted one of the throw aways really quick just for fun. The STLs are at the end of the post.
I'm working on the Bireme right now. It's proving tricky due to the way the oars are layered.

Those look excellent.

What size nozzle are you using.
When on mobile I am brief and may be perceived as an arsl.

0.5mm at 0.11mm per layer. White PLA at about 183c. Very slow print speed with fast retraction. Bed temp at 73c with supports. Tried using my 0.35mm nozzle, but there is a clog in it that I cannot get out for the life of me.
