Rostock V1 malfunction of heat bed and heat rod

Post by fuhao1995323 »

Hello guys,
We have a Rostock V1. Our original board was broken and we have a new one right now and there is a little difference between them. Every time we switch on bed or rod, the board will automatically shut down. I thought it is because of short at somewhere. All wires are fine after checking but the resistance of rod is around 1000 ohms and bed is around 300. I do not know if that's normal? Or how can we solve this problem?
Thank you guys very much!

1000 ohms and 300 ohms is too much. They should be less than 10 ohms.

But that should not make your rambo shutdown.
When on mobile I am brief and may be perceived as an arsl.

Hello Sir,
Then what factor do you think can cause this problem? Actually as long as we connect wires to heat bed or heat rod, the board will turn off the heating.

The first thing I would look at is the power supply, if it's bad, turning on the heater could cause everything to power off.

"turn off the heating" sounds different than "shut down". Please clarify exactly what's happening. Is it a total power-off result or something else?

Just to check the obvious...when you got your replacement board, did you load your firmware, or are you running whatever happened to be on it?

Hello Guys,

Really appreciate for your replying.

Our problem is the instant we turn on the heat of bed or rod (with to with out connecting to computer), the red light of heat function will automatically turn off but the board is still working (green light is still on) and LCD control will stuck.

We unconnected all power part and try them one by one. Every time we connect wires onto bed or rod while the heating function is on, heat function will turn off. Besides, before we connect wires, we measured the voltage from board and they are all around 12v, which is pretty normal. Looks like some automatic protection is triggered somehow.

The board is new since last one has trouble with power supplying and the power itself is new as well. The bed and the rod are both ok last time we worked on it (3 months ago)

So please help! Thank you guys very much!

Disconnect the hot end and heated bed from the board, then measure the resistance on the wires. (You have to unplug them first, or it will mess up the measurement.)

Can you take a photo of the board with all the wires connected, and post it here?
