Extruder only heating to 150 c

Post by zumbee »

I just redid some wiring on my rostock max v2. It worked fine for two prints, but now when I go to print something, the extruder only heats to 150 degrees c. I've tried re-calibrating the PID, but since it cant heat to 200, that doesn't work. Any suggestions?

Assuming you still have the original resistors in parallel for heating elements, my guess is one of the resistors has died (or become disconnected). Disconnect and measure the resistance across the hot end to confirm. A single resistor measures 6.8Ω. Two resistors in parallel should measure 3.4Ω.

Thanks for the help. I checked with a multimeter and it looks like one of my resistors is shot.
