SmoothieBoard "config" Settings...
SmoothieBoard "config" Settings...
To all,
Running on two Rostock MAX v2's:
- SmoothieBoard & GLCD
- 626Pilot's Firmware
- 1.8 Degree Steppers for X, Y, Z (might change to 0.9 degree)
- 5.18:1 Geared Stepper for Extruder
- Trick Laser 300mm Carbon Fiber Arms
- Trick Trucks
- MAX Metal Platform
- Prometheus Hot End
- Fly-n-Strude
- Heat Spreader, etc...
Aside from the "vertical banding" which was reduced with the Geared Stepper for the Extruder, but, still there, everything is working well... I think?
Would those running SmoothieBoards with experience and producing good prints care to share your "config" and "config override" files in here to look at please?
I've several of them now, and have my setup like most, but in a few areas I'm still questioning:
"mm_per_arc_segment"
"mm_per_line_segment"
"delta_segments_per_second" (Flateric is at 600 here)
"junction_deviation"
Thanks in advance!

Re: SmoothieBoard "config" Settings...
I posted my config in that other topic. I haven't ran into any issues with printing so I'm not sure what effect changing those settings would have.
Re: SmoothieBoard "config" Settings...
Yes, I grabbed it from over in the other topic... Thanks again!
I'm just curious to see what you and others have for settings, especially the ones I posted.
On a side note, how is the quality of those steppers you bought? I believe you have these ones... https://www.sparkfun.com/products/10846

Re: SmoothieBoard "config" Settings...
I haven't had any issues at all. They are Wantai branded steppers. http://www.wantmotor.com/
They are measuring 34c and I've been printing for just over 23 hours straight. S3D was estimating 26 hours, but I'm only showing it 69% complete.

Re: SmoothieBoard "config" Settings...
They are happy at 1.9A?

edited above post: Yes they seem okay, I use to adjust the amps a bit on larger prints. Then I got lazy and just keep it at 1.9a

That's fantastic the Live Streaming on YouTube! Excellent! I'll Bookmark that for sure!
Did that seem to help out with the "vertical banding" issue?

Re: SmoothieBoard "config" Settings...
Absolutely, the .9 with 16t pulleys made the single best improvement. I didn't try it with .9 and 20t, so I'm not sure what those results would have yielded.
I needed a way to monitor the print and youtube was by far the best way without eating up a ton of storage.

Re: SmoothieBoard "config" Settings...
Looking at the video, looks like the exact same setup as mine.
- MAX Metal Platform
- LED Light Ring
- CF Arms
- Prometheus (looks like it)
- I've got the 16 tooth pulleys as well.
I'd like to see a photo of that head setup though... You have the light ring mounted above the effector plate.
As for the 0.9 Steppers, I'll be placing an order today for three of them.
Also getting custom machined FSR Mounts made this week.

Re: SmoothieBoard "config" Settings...
Hey KAS,
On top of the "config" file you posted earlier, would you be comfortable sharing your S3D setup?
Like a "Factory File"? I know settings change from part to part, but the "basics" usually stay the same.

Re: SmoothieBoard "config" Settings...
Attached is my FFF profile. With the smoothieboard, the "Update Machine Definition" & Update Firemware Configuration" should be unchecked. It likes to query the board when connected to USB and change those setting automatically, extremely frustrating.RMLynch wrote:Hey KAS,

Change the .txt to .fff before importing.
Re: SmoothieBoard "config" Settings...
Yes! It drives me crazy the "auto connect" thing.
Again, thanks a lot for this!
I would like to see this thread topic become a sort of "repository" for Smoothie Settings and if possible, Simplify3D Settings!
