Matter Control Extrusion Width

Since switching to Matter Control from Repetier I am having issues with my surfaces not being completely solid. There are spaces between the lines that weren't present when using Repetier and Slicer. I assume it's an issue with the extrusion width setting but I can select nor even find it in Matter Control. I know it's under the advanced setting as per the Matter Control wiki but when editing my presets and selecting Advanced it doesn't let me select anything in the third column. Can someone help me figure this out?

I don't have much experience with MC or any with MatterSlice, but if it's underextruding, as long as you weren't papering over a steps/mm issue with an extrusion multiplier in your standalone slicer, your issue should be with either the filament diameter or nozzle diameter you have configured.

@ IMboring25, Definitely not a steps/mm issue as I've calibrated that and it's been good. The rest of the prints look pretty much flawless until it comes to flat surface layer infill. I can't for the life of me figure out the issue. I've played around with the extrusion multiplier just to check and I always have the same issue. On top of that surface layers still look good when I use slic3r/Repetier.

@Tincho, I'm actually using all sorts of software right now. Ponterface, Cura, Slic3r, Simplify3D. I switched over to Mattercontrol because SeeMeCNC is now shipping that with there printers so I figured the support would be easier for the person I am training and was hopping that they has some reason for switching their slicing software (like quality or something). Problem is that there isn't the same amount of customization with the settings in Mattercontrol. I might actually just switch back to Repetier on the Rostock.

Two settings will affect your extrusion rate: steps/mm in the eeprom which you reckon you've already sussed out, and filament diameter. Nominally 1.75 but grab a micrometer (even a dial caliper) and measure the actual diameter of your filament about 5 times in a 200mm stretch, to get an idea of average diameter and variance.

If you have 1.75 entered as your filament diameter but the stuff is only 1.68mm thick, same effect as setting the extrusion multiplier to 0.96 and hello Gap Town.

I very rarely find I feel the need to switch to Cura, Kiss or Repetier these days - I personally think the MatterHackers guys have hit a pretty reasonably balance of a useable but not excessive set of parameters for printing.

Im not sure if this is the same problem, but I did have a similar issue after I set the "first layer extrusion width" which is under filament to 400%. When I set back to the 100% the gaps in the first layer resolved. I posted some pics of my first layer here. (http://forum.seemecnc.com/viewtopic.php ... 640#p74064)

One thing I noticed is that diff slicers or host softwares likes diff z heights. Regardless of my calibration. You can try lowering your Z height to squish it more.

I just got Simplify3D running with our RoMax and the problem isn't there. Also, I can change the extrusion width setting on there (why that setting is missing from MatterControl I have no idea). I'll just be using S3D instead of MatterControl, you have a lot more control over print settings with it. Thanks for the help everyone. I'm 90% certain I just needed to change that one setting but was unable to.
