is there one out there?
A guide that describes what settings (either software or mechanical) to adjust when this or that happens during object printing to get better results.
Rostock max 3d printing calibration guide?
Re: Rostock max 3d printing calibration guide?
I didnt find myself any guide like this in the internet for the Rostock Max.. It was almost only learning by doing for me for a few weeks. Maybe best is when you show us pictures with your current settings when a print fail and you didnt find the error.
A mechanical guide you will find here. http://www.geneb.org/rostock-max/rostoc ... manual.pdf
Its not the best and the latest but it does help.
This here also helped me alot when i started. http://richrap.blogspot.ca/2012/01/slic ... d.html?m=1

Re: Rostock max 3d printing calibration guide?
Cambo3d,
The implication of your post is there ought to be such a guide. I'm right there with you. That's why I posted this thread several days ago: http://forum.seemecnc.com/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=1395
IMHO it is time for SeeMeCNC to appoint a moderator for this forum. And, IMHO, the moderator should be saddled with the responsibility of organizing and updating the information that people need to successfully build their Rostock MAXs and get them printing reliably at a "baseline" level. A thoughtful moderator would see the need for your "Calibration Guide" thread and would pin it under the Rostock MAX heading.
My sense is that SeeMeCNC is forging ahead from the perspective of a supplier for the RepRap movement. This forum and what we have seen from SeeMeCNC is pretty "traditional" when viewed from that perspective. It's okay if that is what you want.
Personally, I bought my Rostock MAX as a "capital investment" for my business; in other words, I bought a "product." "Consumers" like me (as opposed to participants in a movement) expect products that perform at a baseline level. And when the products don't perform they expect to be able to refer to structured resources where they can get answers to specific questions. Stop and think about it - when you have a problem with an Apple product what do you do? And you have confidence that you'll get resolution to your problem - that's Apple! All of the "bits and pieces" for product support are already in place for SeeMeCNC to make support work. It's just that someone needs to organize and manage those separate pieces.
I knew what I was getting into when I bought my Rostock MAX kit. To me it looked like the best 3D printer alternative at less than $10k. I'm going to put in the time and effort to get this machine functioning at an acceptable level. That will include a whole lot of wasted time searching for answers. So far I'm still ahead of schedule.
Hope SeeMeCNC takes your hint. Good luck!
Bill

i agree with you on the searching for answers
most of the time i search a problem on the forum it says the search is too common so its like digging for a needle in a haystack to find an answer to a problem.
I find the best thing is pm'ing the people that have been around the longest in the forums but i have to be getting on their nerves with all the questions i ask even though they always answer and help me out

I don't know about comparing SeeMeCNC to Apple but some stickys by a moderator would be nice.

Totally agree......this machine is changing in format daily.....
I did find a section from Mhackneys build that can shed some insight; I would also review polygohells posts for older input. Still searching for you guys (gals)....LOTS of posts...
