what to do with the melamine scrap from your kit
I pieced some of the scrap into a puppet shape highlighted with sharpie doodling as a christmas tree decoration.. but I still have a lot of scrap left over , has any one come up with a use or uses for it?

I got a use for it, since I have a laser cutter. Beyond that, I suppose you could chip it for fill of some kind, use the bits that are fairly large as paint/glue boards, and generally do other things. I did make a Melamine E3D mount out of it, before I got the aluminum mount. It's actually the perfect thickness for that, although I think you might have issues making a mount that's really accurate without a laser for the central keyhole at least.

Thats a good idea and i should be able to do it on my Bridgeport without too much trouble ... i was going to make one out of 6061-t6 when the time came to move to a different hot end...but as you say the melamine is the right thickness to start with i will be sure to save the larger pieces for future tinkering
