So in an attempt to solve another problem I ended up rewiring my heater bed and I think I found the cause of my poor heater bed warmup time.
I forget who's post it was but someone mentioned that the connector to the RAMBO can get hot, so to mind that. I've been paying attention but now it's really heating up pretty bad. I can't get it to NOT heat up. I've tried a different connector, re-stripping the wires, I even soldered the wires to the screw down connector to make sure they were getting good contact. Finally I pulled the board and measured the resistance at two points. First was at the screw terminals. 1.2ohms, second was on the rambo where the terminals are soldered... 2.8 ohms.
I don't think the connectors are mating properly.
Another possible cause for poor onyx heat up time.

yes bad connections could be a cause

Yeah, the problem is that it's not just one connector. I had 3 spares and the issue is all three. I bent the pins inward so it makes a better connection when plugged in and that has helped a bit.

I wonder if a solid state relay would help, even without upgrading the power supply, just by bypassing that connector with the heavy current flow.

Edit: oops wrong thread.
