Ok... after successfully builiding my R/S V2, I'm sadly having frustrating problems trying to get either MatterControl (MC) or Repetier (RP)to connect to it.
I'm running a MacBook Pro with Parallels to run Windows 7.1. I loaded the firmware onto the printer using Arduino 1.0.5 in Windows seemingly successfully. COM 4 is the serial port used. The printer boots as expected and gives me a screen showing Rostock Max OK as the last line on the front screen.
HOWEVER, when I now try to move to step two ... calibration; using either host program (MC or RP), neither will connect to the printer. Access to the COM port is denied... is the message I'm getting. I've tried running MC in both Windows and the Mac environment.. nothing works. I did notice that the driver for the printer has a max baud rate of 128K whereas R/S lists 250K on it's advanced screen. I've tried resetting the baud rate on the windows driver; nothing seems to help.
Very frustrating to deal with! And I've read this manual until I'm blue in the face. I know there's some little nugget I'm missing...Any assistance would be appreciated...
Dave

Re: HELP... RS v2 won't connect to Host
dave perhaps one tow many emulations?
i use a 2009 vintage macbook pro running Yosemite with my printer and after a bit of head scratching involving connect disconnect i is working just fine on OS X and Mater control
roll it all back to square one use the older version of ardunio (the current one is bugged on the mac) and do the erase and load again.
my bet is that it will all hook up i did not have to touch baud rates...
even though the manual could be a tiny bit friendlier to mac users if you follow it step by stem ... the words not necessarily the music (photographs) i bet it will work for you....
all that said i am also a one month noob with this so perhaps wait for word from one of the gurus

Winshadow.... Are you running Arduino directly on the Mac? OR using a Windows emulator?

PARTIAL SUCCESS....
Well, after seeing WindShadow's reply; I loaded MC on the Mac and tried once again to have it find the printer. After some trials, I worked. Just knowing someone else was running on MC on the Mac and Yosemite at least gave me the confidence to keep trying. MC is recognizing the printer... so let the "fun" begin...

what was the big hurdle for me was the fact that the current version of Arduino is DOA on the mac
you have to use the older version 1.6.1
https://www.arduino.cc/en/Main/OldSoftw ... s#previous
I ran into this last month and it caused many headaches... now there is a chance that you got a good load of the software via windows so that you could step right into MC from the mac
one the gotcha with MC is that it is clearly not a proper OS X application you quit the app by clicking on its red dot in the upper left of its window. if you turn off the printer you will not get it back into action without using disconnect on MC and there connect again and sometimes the only way to stop a print job that is going wrong (rather common in my first days of 3d printing) the only reliable way i have found is to cancel the print accept the non standard popup and also disconnect and then connect the printer at the top of the MC window...
just remember we are all in this together and we have your back and we are pulling for you... well the experts are but anyway i am applauding from the sideline while they straighten things out
