Extra Effector assembly parts available

Post by Windshadow »

I sent this request to JJ yesterday and today the parts are available Wow what great service before you had to order the full upgrade kit for $39

I want to be able to quickly change hot ends and it seems to me the fastest way to do this is to have extra effector plates and the molded white double ball things that screw to it that way I can just unplug and unsnap quickly.
JJ responded
I completely understand what you are doing here, and I had just put in a request to John (website / E-commerce) to have the platform and ball joints added as an option to be purchased by themselves.
and this morning here they are!

Win

Check your links, both point to the platform at least looking out my window.

fixed

I thought I would knock up a jig that I can use to set the nozzle position in relation to the ball positions accurately to be the same on each hot end

Realistically, you'd be better off with travelphotog's mounts - http://713maker.com. :)

Gene,

If I understand Windshadow's suggestion correctly, he is looking for a replacement effector plate and the ball joints... onto which one could mount any hot end mounting system.

That way, one only needs to remove the white springs, pop the arms, and replace the hot-end/effector plate combination as a single unit.

I like the idea, especially if one has installed plugs on all the wiring. It would take only moments, with no tools, to do a changeover.

Gene,

I am actually using Jim's Duct Effector modified to accept the ball arms. I just need the ball arms with an extra spring or two to setup a spare Duct Effector.

I really like the Duct Effector and it handles the integration of three cooling fans, a light ring, E3Dv6, and Yellow Jacket in a very compact QC Package. To clean a nozzle it is one plug, Bowden tube, three arms and the entire assembly is off to clean on the bench. Reverse the procedure and calibration height stays the same. Of course if a different effector were swapped on or the effector rotated when reattached some attention would be required.

Like the ball arms a lot wasn't too crazy about the effector. The cooling fans were just out there.

I ordered a couple of extra ball arms... I will try Jim's ducted effector plate too. I like the versatility, and I'm just about finished wiring plugs onto the fans, thermistor, hot end, etc. Nice tweaks for my newborn machine.

That is exactly what I am doing Alan,

I ordered 2 plates and 6 of the ball things and one will hold my e3dv6 with a travelphotog mount and the other for now will hold my dial indicator or plotter pen/knife, the original holds my stock hot end and with the power connector and the 2 fan connectors and the thermistor connector so unplug the 4 items pop off the arms from the balls and swapping the other and replug and i am printing as soon as its hot. I want to try nylon printing with the e3dv6 as I was given a pair of different Talman nylons with the e3d as a xmas gift from my sister.

I was going to try Jim's effector platefanholder and I may still but for now the set of 3 total effectors all exactly the same as to dimensions and at a reasonable price is just what I asked jj for.

I have nudged Jim's original to include mounting bosses for the arms. Would like to get the same radius as the SeeMe Effector BUT hotend mounting tubes interfere with the center of the ball arms. Mine that I am using works VERY well but the arm length must be tweaked slightly.

Was working on this when I ducked in for surgery last week and will get back to it soon. Will make available if Jim approves.
