Missing Parts?

Post by leafi »

Hey is there a parts list with pictures and tells you what bag the parts came in? I seem to be missing the idler spacers per instructions section 17. I have 3 tubes of 8 bearings but can not find the spaces. Was it supposed to come in the same bag as the rest of the major assembly parts? (It seems they separated extruder parts, hot end parts .... into their own bag groups which is nice but I do not have a picture BOM. This would make life much easier as some of the pictures in the manual assume you know what things are when it comes to some things.

Also can someone please confirm that the orientation of the LCD plate and rambo locations are swapped for the LCD model? Looking top down at the rostock and using the power supply as box as the reference going clockwise the first one clock wise is the rambo and the next clockwise is the display. I did order the one with the second extruder.

Anyway I think I am missing the parts I need to continue while following the instructions. Is it smart to assemble the extruders and hot ends now?

Thanks

check the rostockmax wiki page there is bom list there. there is bom picture on this forum. just have to find it.

edit here is a link to some photos http://seemecnc.org/download/RostockMAX/Assembly/

as far as the lcd goes, you'll want to install it between the x and y towers, so it does not interfere with your dual extruder. I believe it's on the same side as the rostock engraved letters and should be the only side that doesn't have slots for the extruder holders. shown pic below

Bom list is in text. I need to see what they are referring to.

Thanks let me look. Was that on the wiki page?

I had that problem as well.

What helped was installing SolidWorks eDrawings (free for viewing).

This is the file that has a complete model of the printer and a parts list on the left.

The problem is the X and Y towers are not labeled on the bottom housing so I do not know which is which. Ill look at the 3d Model.

what do u mean bottom housing? bottom plate? bottom plate doesn't matter as far as the lcd goes. the top plate where the extruder mounting slots does have xyz labeling unless they are not labeled anymore. there is only one plate labeled xyz, thats the plate you u need to orient correctly

Yes the top is labeled not the bottom but I need to know (unless it does not matter) where in the orientation the compartments need to be. The top (not the top on top of the bars) seems symetical so I can rotate it in any direction. If this is the case does it matter in which place I put the LCD or the Rambo with respect to the power supply? Just as long as the LCD is between X&Y? Sorry for being stupid.

Actually I looked at it again and it is not symetrical due to at least the holes for the doors. Starting at the power supply going clockwise looking down it should be first the rambo then the LCD right?... Then the top plate is arranged so the LCD is between XY and the rambo is YZ right?

thanks

yes put it between the x and y, lcd, electronics compartment

between your z and y you'll have an empty compartment

between your x and z you'll have your power supply compartment.

OK Thanks

They must have made changes to the design from when that 3d model was published because the ilde spacers are not the same as the assembly manual. Too bad I do not have those either. :-(

do you have the black version injection molded spacer. looks like a sprocket? if you do those are your bearing spacers http://forum.seemecnc.com/viewtopic.php ... 7&start=50

These are the parts I have. The timing pulleys and feet are already installed so they are not in the pictures.

I do not know if I have the bearing sleeve. Mine are black. Are those them?

Do you know what mounting screws I am supposed to use? I think mine are the Philips but there are 2 different ones. One is slightly tighter in the hole but both are a good deal longer than the gap and I do not know if it they are even the right screws. The tighter fitting one is 1.8 inches and the looser is 2 inches. The tighter one only has 9 in the bag and the other has many.

you will want to mount your rambo in the same compartment as your lcd panel because the ribbon cables will not reach any other place. http://forum.seemecnc.com/viewtopic.php ... 8&start=30
if your following the manual listed on this forum, it is behind because the seemecnc guys aren't the people that write or update it, its updated by one single guy on this forum, so your not going to have the most up to date information.

i used the 1.8in screws for the bearings

I would like to say thank you to the person writing the manual it is greatly helpful!

I am just a bit worried about using the wrong parts and needing more.

Can someone confirm that we can not solder the wires for the hot end? Based on the manual we solder the thermistor but crimp the power resistors. This is likely due to the heat melting the solder but I just do not know. How how will the thermistor solder joints become?

Also I purchased the second extruder. Should I install it now?
I seem to read on seemecnc's website that they didnt have a chance to update the SW and FW to support the second extruder. Is this the case?

crimp the resistors they get pretty hot.

you can get away with soldering the thermistor leads but i crimped both mine to be safe (thermistor and resistors)

I haven't seen anyone on this forum use the dual extruder yet so its not been proven. mhackney is testing his now.

Thank you for the picture. Did you mount the rambo on the inside of the display door? More like do we need to do that? I moved my stepper motors so the one needing the extension was the furthest away from the electronics door. What is in the electronics door if you have a lcd? nothing?

Thanks!

where is the / what is the build log?

Are your vertical arms flush against the top plate? Mine wont stay against it when I tighten the lugs down. They are maybe 20 mil away and I can not keep them flush.
