Options for Upgrading my Ezstruder?

Post by cpu77 »

I want to replace my stock Extruder setup with a all metal extruder with a geared motor. I want something thats kind of a drop in for the most part. So far I have looked at....

MICRON 3DP
Bondtech QR
Bulldog Extruder

Does anyone have any opinions on these or any others not listed?

Thanks Ralph

I'm designing one that fits the bill, but I don't have the files finished yet.

+1 for BondTech, from what I've heard and seen. They're quite nice.

I own the Bondtech QR and it is without reservation the best extruder on the market.

But QR is not all metal... as it seems to be one of the requirements....

Well guys.... I dropped the all metal part:) I went ahead and bought a Bondtech. Thanks for helping me out. Is it silly buying parts for my printer makes me giddy? What do I need to mount it to my Rostock Max V2? I would like to have what I need when it shows up.

The Bondtech site has STL's to mount it to a Max, so you can print them yourself (I presume you did not buy the mount along with it, since you're asking). You probably will want heat set inserts as well, since the mount is designed for them. I believe many hobby and hardware shops should have them. You could also print out the basic fixture, and attach it inside the top deck, feeding through the little hole there, if you have a chamber. (I haven't got one of my own yet, because I'm a poor college student, but I've been planning out how to mount one when I get it)

I actually printed the mount and it came out great. I am going to Fastenal today to see if they have the brass inserts. I did find them at Mastercar. I am listing part numbers for others.....

Thanks for posting this information and I like the way the mount came out.
