Re: Mostly Printed CNC Router
Steppers showed up yesterday, so they're now attached. Rest(I think) of the parts will be here tomorrow. Almost time to move it out to the barn!

Not sure about what material you are using, but I am finding PETG is much tougher than PLA and resists layer separation.

Re: Mostly Printed CNC Router
Yea, I've started using petg since I got my e3d. The grey parts are pla, the black part on the z axis is petg, my new parts that are waiting for me to get home are also petg. I still have a bunch of pla on the frame, but I'll replace those as they fail. There's not alot of torque on the frame, so they might be okay as is.ccavanaugh wrote:Not sure about what material you are using, but I am finding PETG is much tougher than PLA and resists layer separation.

Still don't have a sawdust maker for it yet, but I did build a torsion box table for it!

Looks great, you should have brought it to MRRF!!!
Nice to meet you there and put a face to a name. I'll hit you up if I'm ever out that way.

Not sure how well it would work in that environment though.

Re: Mostly Printed CNC Router
Crap crap crap CRAP!!!! When I printed my new effector platform with the build in fan ducts, I didn't check the calibration, just did a new z height adjustment. So I printed a new roller carriage yesterday to fix one I broke over tightening a screw
. Turns out everything I've been printing since the new platform is 1.5mm too big. Not really a big deal since I haven't really been printing anything that requires a precision size. So I go to install the new part this morning, and it just rattles around on the rail.
So now I'm going through 626Pilot's calibration how-to. Looks like my next roller will be MtDew green, cause I'm almost out of black pet-g...

Very nice! What was it cutting?
BTW, if it's not on your to-do list already, you should print yourself a dust collector shoe for that thing.

Re: Mostly Printed CNC Router
I will say, i havent played with my CNC lately (since i put it on a winch). But I do now have a 3.8w laser attachment too... SOOOOOO cool.. it can cut and engrave etc.. this MPCNC is so flexible in what it can do.
Re: Mostly Printed CNC Router
I'm so excited to see this post. I am printing out the pieces to build one as I type this. Expect a multitude of questions from me I as soon as I get finished printing.

Re: Mostly Printed CNC Router
Ryan is designing new plastic parts as we speak. He has new corner parts now, still working on the z assembly. Current version works just fine, but some folks have had a hard time getting everything square.

Not too bad for a rotozip bit! Really need to get some real end mill bits.

Re: Mostly Printed CNC Router
Still haven't got the bit changing part quite right. Was off about a millimeter to the left. The holes are because this was a used piece of wood. Used to be part of a table top I made.

Little bit of sanding and some colored wood stain will help though. Shaneh likes how it looks, she said dragons are supposed to be jaggy.
